There is a large population of mountain goats in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area, and are quite tolerant of people being around them. Even this baby mountain goat tolerated the prescence of humans well. This photograph was taken in midsummer, near Esmerelda Basin. The goats are trying to find salt.
